What is Czech VAT (DPH)?
DPH (daň z přidané hodnoty) is the Czech name for value added tax. If you sell to Czech customers, issue invoices in the Czech Republic or just want to check a Czech price, this calculator uses the current Czech rates. Amounts are in Czech crowns (CZK), but the math works for any currency.
How VAT is calculated
You can calculate VAT in two directions, and this calculator handles both:
From a net price (adding VAT): price × 1.21 (for 21%) or × 1.12 (for 12%) = price incl. VAT.
From a gross price (removing VAT): price ÷ 1.21 (for 21%) or ÷ 1.12 (for 12%) = price excl. VAT.
The VAT amount is always the difference between the gross and net price. Example: 1,000 CZK excl. VAT × 1.21 = 1,210 CZK incl. VAT, and the VAT itself is 210 CZK.
Czech VAT rates in 2026
- 21%, standard rate: most goods and services.
- 12%, reduced rate: food, medicines and medical devices, accommodation, public transport, water and sewage, admission to cultural events and other items listed in the annexes of the Czech VAT Act.
- 0%, books (printed and electronic): legally an exemption with the right to deduct input VAT, not a third rate.
The rates are unchanged from 2025. The current setup has applied since the consolidation package that took effect on 1 January 2024, which merged the two former reduced rates (15% and 10%) into a single 12% rate.
FAQ
What are the Czech VAT rates in 2026?
Standard 21% and reduced 12%, plus a 0% rate on books. No change from 2025.
How do I add Czech VAT to a net price?
Multiply the net price by the coefficient: × 1.21 for 21%, × 1.12 for 12%. The difference is the VAT amount.
How do I remove Czech VAT from a gross price?
Divide the gross price by the coefficient: ÷ 1.21 for 21%, ÷ 1.12 for 12%. The result is the net price.
How is VAT calculated?
From the net price as price × rate. If you have the net price, you add VAT. If you have the gross price, you remove it. The calculator handles both directions.
This calculator is for information only. For borderline cases, check which rate applies to a specific product or service in the Czech VAT Act or with your accountant.
